Chittaranjan Locomotive Works’ ancillary electric loco assembly unit in Dankuni rolled out its 100th locomotive on August 12. The WAG9 freight loco will be based at Bandamunda. The plant was established in 2014 and completed its first loco in March 2016.

Alstom has awarded Airswift a contract to act as exclusive technical recruiter for ‘blue and white collar contingent roles’ at a total of 13 sites across Australia, including the Sydney Metro Northwest and the Sydney Light Rail projects. ‘The award marks a major milestone in our diversification’, said Adam Street, Airswift‘s Recruitment Manager, Infrastructure for Australia & New Zealand. ‘Airswift has traditionally been known for its work in oil and gas so this contract is a significant step forward in our evolution’.

Chrysalis Rail has reopened the former Great Western HST depot at Landore in Swansea which closed in December 2018. The site is to be used for rolling stock refurbishment, modifications, re-paint and overhaul programmes. M Group Services has acquired KH Engineering Services, which provides mechanical and electrical engineering design, management and delivery services for customers including Abellio, Govia, Network Rail and Transport for London. Terms were not disclosed.

Ardanuy Ingeniería has opened an office in the Okhla district of New Delhi which will serve as its railway consulting hub for India and southeast Asia. The Spanish company has more than 100 employees in India, working on metro projects in New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi as well as on the Dedicated Freight Corridors.
