United Wagon Co was Russia’s largest wagon manufacturer in 2019, according to data from INFOLine-Analytics. UWC’s output of 21 000 wagons placed it second worldwide after CRRC. Russian companies produced a total of 78 200 wagons in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 9·8%. Output is expected to fall in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, a decline in freight loadings and a surplus of wagons on the network.
On June 23 EBRD approved a €20m working capital loan to help Stadler Minsk withstand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on its rolling stock production. The funds will be used to support production under the existing orders and mitigate the disruption of supply materials.
On June 17 Eurofima disbursed €80m which Denmark’s DSB will use to finance the purchase of Siemens Mobility Vectron locomotives.
Vivarail has secured a £1·5m loan from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund Debt Finance, managed by Maven Capital Partners, which it will use to finance the company’s relocation to a larger site. Thus will enable it to scale up operations. Vivarail is also expanding its workforce, with another five jobs to be created.

Laurent Trevisani, Deputy CEO of SNCF, has been elected as the French shareholder’s representative on the board of Eurofima, succeeding Alain Picard who stepped down in February.
