Nexans has opened a logistics centre at Nanterre providing cable assembly, cutting, kitting, inventory, storage and delivery services for projects the Paris region. ‘Our dedicated team provides a single point of contact throughout the value chain to provide an efficient and cost-effective solution for contractors in the Ile-de-France area working on the Grand Paris project’, said Benoit Binet, Nexans’ Director of Logistics & Solutions for the automated metro programme.

Siemens Mobility and the Engineering Centre of Railway Transport joint venture of Sinara Transport Machines and Russian Railways have signed an agreement to develop designs for high speed trains for Russia.

Industrial computing specialist Kontron has reported good progress in a research partnership involving Deutsche Bahn and other industry players to finalise the standards and specification of the Future Railway Mobile Communication System. Kontron’s participation has focused on integration of the MCX Mission Critical Systems framework into FRMCS.

The board of The Greenbrier Companies has appointed President & COO Lorie Tekorius as the next CEO & President with effect from March 1 2022, succeeding co-founder, Chairman & CEO William A Furman who will assume the newly created role of Executive Chair until his previously-announced retirement in September 2022. Tekorius joined Greenbrier in 1995, and has held positions covering strategic planning and interfacing with the Commercial and Manufacturing units, as well as CFO and COO.

Shannon Drown

RJ Corman Railroad Co has appointed Shannon Drown as Assistant Vice-President of Commercial Development, Railroads. She leads the commercial development team, sales efforts and key account management, reporting to Justin Broyles, Executive Vice-President, Commercial Affairs. Shannon joined RJ Corman in 2019 as Director, Commercial Development, having previously held leadership positions with Union Pacific and CSX.

The Greenbrier Companies has released its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance report, On Track Together, prepared in accordance with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board framework. The company has completed a stakeholder assessment of the most relevant topics to address in its ESG programme, increased recycled steel content from 47% in 2020 to 51% in 2021, and hosted nearly 100 interviews with Greenbrier leaders to establish internal alignment and prioritise Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access and Leadership actions.

The Railway Supply Institute’s American Railway Car Institute Committee reports that North American wagon orders in Q3 2021 were down on Q2 2021, though higher than in Q1. Deliveries and backlog increased from Q2.
