RUSSIA: The development of innovative wagon designs, an increase in exports and expansion of the range of castings offered are included in wagon manufacturer RM Rail’s priorities for 2017, according to CEO Pavel Ovchinnikov.

The company significantly developed its export activities in 2016, supplying wagons and components to Iran, Cuba, the Baltic States and Kazakhstan. It successfully tested what it says is the first aluminium-bodied hopper wagon design in Russia, and obtained certification for a high-capacity ammonia tank wagon. The production of specialist wagons was up 55% compared to 2015, and as part of a diversification programme begun in 2014 it has tripled the production of foundry products with 450 casting types now offered.

RM Rail is also seeking to further diversify its production activities by expanding its work in the oil and gas sectors.
