GERMANY: Transmashholding has held a topping out ceremony for the €45m depot it is building at Langweid am Lech in Bayern to maintain EMUs for use by Go-Ahead.
Completion is planned for December, with TMH Germany having a 12-year contract to maintain the fleet of 78 Stadler and Siemens Mobility units for use on E-Netz Allgäu and Augsburger Netze Lot 1 passenger services.
Contractors for the construction of the depot include Eigner Fertigbau and Alois Miller Erdbau. TMH Germany already employs 26 people, and is recruiting at least 20 more. The depot will have the capacity to take on external work, and could employ up to 70 people in total.
The depot draws on TMH’s experience of more than 100 maintenance sites worldwide. A digital twin will be created for every vehicle and used to analyse the condition of all components before it arrives at the depot. There will be a wheelset measuring line, with BOOM software used for maintenance planning. Hegenscheidt equipment will enable two wheelsets to be removed in 4 h, down from a day with older equipment.
‘Today is a special day in the young history of TMH Germany’, said Managing Director Klaus Hock on September 17. ‘At the end of last year, Go-Ahead Bayern entrusted us the light maintenance of its fleet, as manufacturer-independent maintainer and partner in this project. We are proud to build one of the most modern maintenance facilities in Europe for our customer, to ensure that the trains will transport passengers in the Augsburg region safely and on time.’
