CHINA: A 5·4 km extension of Chengdu metro Line 1 officially began trial operation on July 25. The southern extension runs underground from Century City to Guangdou with four intermediate stations. Line 1 opened in September 2010 and with the extension is now 23·9 km long.
Services run from 06.20 to 22.50. Frequencies have been increased from an average of 3 min 30 sec in the morning peak to 3 min 10 sec, with the minimum headway on Line 1 now 2 min 50 sec.
On Line 2 average peak headways have been reduced from 4 min 5 sec to 3 min 50 sec.
