UK: French depot equipment and track and rolling stock component supplier CIM has acquired Sheffield-based lifting and handling system manufacturer Mechan.
Announcing the deal on March 2, CIM said Mechan had established an international reputation with its products, which include lifting jacks, the Megalink controller, equipment drops and traversers.
‘Mechan is a particularly innovative and successful company which presents a range of high-quality products complementary to our own’, said CIM Group CEO Alain Lovambac. ‘This acquisition strengthens our ambition to become the world’s leading group in the design and supply of turnkey railway workshop solutions’.
Mechan is to retain its name, management and staff. Managing Director Richard Carr said joining CIM was ‘an excellent opportunity to accelerate our international development’, with Mechan becoming ‘part of an ambitious programme managed by a group that has demonstrated its dynamism through its consistent growth.’
Mechan’s management team was advised by law firm HLW Keeble Hawson and Shorts accountants.
