In 1998, Bahngesellschaft Waldhof AG (BGW) was the first private railway to run long-distance freight trains over DBAG trackage. Today it is owned by Rhenus Logistics and runs long-distance, regional and in-house freight operations. It took over Wincanton Rail GmbH in 2012.
