First line opened 1913; original lines now carry freight only. In 1994 the Betzdorf–Daaden line (10 km) was taken over from DBAG and is operated for passenger traffic, while Betzdorf–Dillenburg (41 km) is operated by WEBA subsidiary Hellertalbahn GmbH.
