HUNGARY: The second tram line in Debrecen opened on February 26, followed by five days of free travel. The route runs along the existing track from the main station to Kálvin Tér before branching off on a new alignment to Csokonai Vitéz Mihály Gimnázium, from where services run anticlockwise round a loop via Kartács utca and Doberdó utca. The new section is 3·5 km long with 12 stops.

Peak services run at headways of 4 to 6 min. The line is operated with 32·4 m long five-section 100% low-floor CAF Urbos trams. In 2011 a €38m order for 18 trams was placed; 15 have arrived so far. The air-conditioned vehicles have capacity for 223 passengers.
