UK: Bombardier Transportation rolled out the first of 111 Class 720 Aventra electric multiple-units ordered by leasing company Angel Trains for use by Abellio’s Greater Anglia franchise at its Derby factory on September 13.
The order comprises 89 five-car and 22 10-car 25 kV 50 Hz EMUs to operate on Greater Anglia’s West Anglia and Great Eastern outer suburban services. The £900m contract was signed in September 2016.
Stadler is fulfilling a separate order for 20 12-car EMUs for inter-city and airport services, as well as 24 four-car and 14 three-car electro-diesel units to be deployed on Greater Anglia’s rural and regional routes.
