POLAND: Koleje Mazowieckie signed a 405m złoty contract with Stadler Polska for the supply of 12 five-car Flirt electric multiple-units on March 28.
The contract includes maintenance, repair kits and staff training. Stadler will supply the 160 km/h EMUs from its Siedlce factory, with the first due to enter service in the second quarter of 2020, and all 12 in service by the end of 2021 on the route between Sochaczew and Celestynów via Warszawa.
The air-conditioned, walk-through trains will be equipped with multi-function areas, audio-visual passenger information, wi-fi and a passenger-to-driver intercom. The aluminium-bodied EMUs will be TSI-compliant and fitted with ETCS onboard equipment.
The order forms part of a framework contract worth up to 2·2bn złoty signed in January 2018 covering up to 61 five-car and 10 two-car EMUs. The first order from this framework was signed in May, covering six five-car sets for 153m złoty. These are due to enter service from this year on the Warszawa – Działdowo route.
