CHINA: China Railway Express has launched a hub for China – Europe rail freight services at the Shenyang Puhe logistics site.
An inaugural train with 55 containers of products including car parts, electrical and mechanical products and medical equipment left the hub on March 4.
Shenyang municipality said the terminal can handle more than 1 000 trains/year. The facility is a ‘national first-class railway freight hub’, it added, and one of 18 railway container centres in China.
At the opening ceremony, Wang Xinwei, Secretary of the CPC Municipal Committee, said ’we need to promote reform and innovation, improve sustainable operation, strengthen digital and technological empowerment, and develop new business models such as “freight trains + cold chain products” and “freight trains + customised services”, to improve the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of our services.
’We need to pay greater attention to industrial cultivation, actively attract such industries as manufacturing, modern logistics and commodity trade for concentrated development, thus to create an industrial ecosystem.
’Moreover, we need to make full use of the hub to build a first-class international land port as well as an important terminal of the land-sea passage in northeast China.’
