EUROPE: The Czech Republic’s national freight operator ČD Cargo has established the ČD Cargo Adria subsidiary, which aims to begin operation in Croatia within a year.
ČD Cargo Chairman Tomáš Tóth said the company sees opportunities for the expansion in the Balkans, with the market for transport to the Croatian ports of Rijeka and Ploče offering great potential and the possibility of future expansion into the Slovenian and Serbian markets.
Tóth said ČD Cargo has significantly strengthened its position in foreign markets over the last two years, and now holds licenses, directly or through subsidiaries, for operation in six countries.
