ESTONIA: State-owned freight operator EVR Cargo has been renamed Operail, in a change which the company said was ‘driven by the need to better reflect the nature of an international market-oriented logistics and transport company’.
‘Freight transport was an essential part of EVR Cargo’s identity, but has not been our only business direction for quite some time’, said Chairman of the Management Board Raul Toomsalu when the change took effect on June 22. ‘Operail is constantly developing its three railway-based business directions: haulage, rolling stock rental, and rolling stock maintenance and modernisation. We are evolving into an internationally acclaimed logistics and transport company and we are on the lookout for new growth opportunities.’
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Kuldar Leis said Operail’s goal was to become ‘the preferred partner’ on north–south and east–west routes, providing services on 1 435 mm gauge as well as 1 520 mm gauge lines.
