USA: OmniTRAX’s Winchester & Western Railroad has signed an agreement to serve a steel mill which Commercial Metals Co is developing alongside the railway at Falling Waters in West Virginia for opening in late 2025.
W&W supplemented a state and county incentive package for CMC to choose the location with a custom rail service agreement and additional infrastructure investments.
‘The new CMC mill exemplifies the power of pairing rail and real estate together’, said OmniTRAX CEO Dean Piacente on December 8. ‘By combining the efficiency of rail transportation with a strategic location that can efficiently reach two-thirds of the nation’s population, this new mill is a model of supply chain optimisation.’
