TX Logistik has increased its intermodal service between Köln and Interporto Bologna from five to six round trips per week from July 9. The service runs via the Gotthard route, with the operator saying the increase in clearances to enable 4 m high semitrailers to be carried has significantly increased demand.

Maritime Transport has commenced operations at Hams Hall Rail Freight Terminal near Birmingham under a long-term agreement with owner Associated British Ports. There are currently seven daily rail services, including to/from the ports of Felixstowe, London Gateway and Seaforth, with plans for an increase in the coming months. Maritime now has seven intermodal rail freight terminals.

Rio Tinto Iron Ore is to undertake a three month trial of Rail Vision’s machine vision and obstacle classification technology on its autonomous heavy haul trains in Western Australia, with an option to extend for an additional six months in different use-cases. ‘Our technology provides unparalleled obstacle identification on and near tracks, making it a key enabling technology for autonomous trains’, said Rail Vision CEO Shahar Hania.
