GERMANY: Alstom announced on May 24 that it had received an order worth €50m from Hohenzollerische Landesbahn for the supply of 10 Coradia Lint 54 diesel multiple-units. Scheduled for delivery by May 2019, they will operate on the routes from Ulm to Aalen, Langnau and Munderkingen.
To be manufactured at Alstom’s Salgitter plant, the two-car Coradia DMUs for HzL will have a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Each unit will have a total of 150 seats and 18 bicycle spaces, and entrance height will be 630 mm above rail.
Tables will be provided at most fixed seats, and the new DMUs will be equipped with wi-fi, entertainment and passenger information systems as well as CCTV ‘guaranteeing a high level of passenger safety’.
According to Alstom Sales Director for Germany & Austria Jochen Slabon, this is the first order to be placed for the Coradia Lint by an operator in the Land of Baden-Württemberg. ‘Alstom’s well-proven regional trains will be a real enrichment for the region and bring passenger comfort to a new level’, he said.
