CZECH REPUBLIC: Subterra, OHLA ŽS and EŽ Praha have begun work to complete double tracking and 25 kV 50 Hz electrification of the Brno – Zastávka u Brna line.
The first 8·5 km from Brno-Horní Heršpice to Střelice was completed in September 2021.
Work is now underway on the next 10·5 km to Zastávka u Brna. The KC2·96bn EU co-funded project includes track renewals and installation of ETCS to enable the line speed to be increased to 120 km/h, along with the modernisation of three stations and eight level crossings.
Completion is scheduled for late 2024.
