LUXEMBOURG: A three-year project to deploy GSM-R across the 271 km CFL network has been completed, supplier Kapsch CarrierCom announced on January 22.

Kapsch has implemented an all-IP RDN.core built on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project Release 4, with RDN.base stations, transmission networks, dispatcher systems and roaming agreements with France, Belgium and Germany. The contract includes maintenance until the end of 2021.

‘With the completion of the implementation of the project in Luxembourg, we closed the last white spot of GSM-R coverage in the Benelux countries’, said Kapsch CarrierCom CEO Kari Kapsch. ‘Once again we made a big step towards the standardisation of railway communication in Europe, which means a more efficient and safer railway traffic across countries and borders.’
