SWITZERLAND: Rhätische Bahn is using a track and electrification inspection and measuring vehicle designed to provide metre-gauge railway operators with detailed data to help plan maintenance and renewal works.

The vehicle has been developed in a joint project by RhB, Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz and the ARGE FahrwegDiagnose joint venture of Sersa Maschineller Gleisbau, iNovitas and Kistler Instrumente.

The data collected can be monitored remotely, and is uploaded to the cloud and processed by Sersa and iNovitas before being presented to the railway for final evaluation.

RhB plans to hire the measuring vehicle for around two weeks per year for the next five years.
