SPAIN: ADIF has awarded Thales a 27-month contract worth €20·8m to supply ASFA Digital ATP to replace telephone block working on the 101 km single track, non-electrified Ortigueira – Ribadeo section of the Oviedo – Ferrol metre gauge line along the north coast.
Existing colour light signals are to be replaced with LEDs, and new equipment buildings provided.
Train movements will be managed from the El Berrón control centre, eliminating the traditional control roles of local station staff.
Similar signalling modernisation is currently in progress between Ferrol and Ortigueira under a €13·2m contract awarded in November 2020.
