ROMANIA: SC Mari-Vila has been awarded a 47·9m lei contract to build a 3·8 km extension of the Oradea tram network.
The project includes the construction of a double-track link from Calea Aradului to Strada Dimitrie Cantemir in the south of the city, with eight stops serving retail areas and the university.
Construction is expected to take 24 months and is being funded from EU sources.
Planned longer-term projects in the city include the construction of a new depot, a western extension of the network and a link to the airport.
