AUSTRALIA: ADCO Constructions has been selected as preferred bidder to design and build Lakelands station as part of Perth’s Metronet suburban rail expansion programme.
To be located 7 km north of Mandurah, the station will include a pedestrian overpass, bus interchange, 400-bay car park and associated infrastructure. The contract is expected to be awarded in early 2021, and opening is planned for 2023. The project is being jointly funded by the national government (80%) and Western Australia (20%).
‘With more than 2 300 passengers expected to use Lakelands Station from day one, this new station will help take pressure off the busy nearby Mandurah and Warnbro stations’, said Western Australian Transport Minister Rita Saffioti on December 11.
