ESTONIA: National Rail Baltica project implementation body Rail Baltic Estonia has awarded Ardanuy Ingeneria a €368 000 contract to design seven stations for use by regional passenger services on the future 1 435 mm gauge line.
The stations at Assaku, Luige, Saku and Kurtna in the Harju region and Kaisma, Tootsi and Urge in the Pärnu region will make use of designs developed by Novarc Group for the Raplamaa station, adapted to for each specific location.
Design work is scheduled to take five months, with a further three months to obtain building permits. The railway elements of stations are to be built as part of the construction of the main line alignment, with the buildings and other facilities to be added once main works are completed.
The Rail Baltica Operational Plan envisages regional services from Tallinn to Riga with stops in Estonia at Assaku, Luige, Saku, Kurtna, Kohila, Rapla, Järvakandi, Kaisma, Tootsi, Urge, Surju and Häädemeeste. There will also be an international station in Pärnu.
