GERMANY: DB Netz has awarded the first contract for main construction works for the second S-Bahn city crossing in München, the infrastructure manager announced on November 15.
The €189m Overground West package, covering the section from Laim to Donnersberger Brücke, has been awarded to a consortium of Ed Züblin, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, Max Bögl Stiftung & Co and Bauer Spezialtiefbau.
Design work is due to begin at the end of November, with construction planned to start in late 2019. Opening of the 11 km route is currently planned for 2026.
