TAIWAN: China Steel Corp has awarded Thales a contract to supply signalling for the Ankeng light rail project in New Taipei City.

Being developed by the New Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems, the 7·5 km route with nine stops will run on a mix of elevated and at-grade alignment southwest from Shisizhang station on the future Circular Line, to Erbazi Botanical Garden. It is scheduled to open in early 2022.

In addition to signalling, Thales is to supply communications, automatic vehicle location, priority management at road crossings, a public address system, a passenger information system, CCTV, SCADA equipment and an operations control centre.
