Australia: Arc Infrastructure has awarded Dixon Construction a A$2m contract for the development of a depot in Kalgoorlie, including offices, a maintenance shed and a washing plant.
Rio Tinto Iron Ore has awarded Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corp subsidiary Yurra a A$20m five-year contract for infrastructure maintenance on its Pilbara network. ‘Through ongoing contract opportunities we will continue to push the boundaries to improve and raise the living standards of indigenous peoples of the region’, said YAC CEO Michael Woodley.
Belarus: BC has awarded AŽD Praha a KC20m contract to supply signalling equipment including its ABE-1-BC electronic automatic block system for the modernisation of the Zlobin – Kalinkovicy – Slovecno line, and a KC270m contract to supply an ESA 44-BC interlocking, ABE-1-BC signalling and diagnostic systems for the Kalinkovicy area. The Czech company will work with local partner BETZ.
Belgium: Infrabel has awarded Kapsch CarrierCom a 15-year framework agreement for the migration of its GSM-R network from R99/TDM to R4/VoIP and the provision of 12 years of maintenance. This is intended to provide the functionality and resilience for ETCS Level 2 over GPRS.
China: Vossloh Fastening Systems has won a €40m order to supply rail fastenings for the Hangzhou – Taizhou high speed line in 2019-20.
Czech Republic: SŽDC has awarded a consortium of Strabag Rail, Eurovia CS and Metrostav a contract to upgrade one of the last non-modernised sections of Corridor 4 Praha – České Budějovice. The sinuous single-track section between Soběslav and Doubí u Tábora will be replaced by a new 8·8 km double-track alignment suitable for 160 km/h, with two flyovers, a 370 m tunnel, 12 bridges and no level crossings, reducing the distance by 750 m. A halt at Myslkovice will replace the one at Roudná. The contract is worth KC3·87bn, of which EU may contribute up to 83% of the cost. Completion is due for April 2023.
SŽDC has awarded Eurovia CS, GJW Praha and EŽ Praha a KC1·47bn contract to upgrade the 8.4 km Lysá nad Labem – Čelákovice double-track line, including a replacing the bridge over the River Labe to increase clearances above water level.
India: National Capital Regional Transport Corp has awarded Ayesa an engineering design contract covering four stations of the regional express rail network planned to serve the Delhi area.
Israel: AŽD Praha has signed a three-year framework for the supply of turnout monitoring equipment.
Italy: RFI has awarded Vossloh a €25m two-year framework for the supply of high speed turnout components.
Philippines: A consortium of Sumitomo Corp, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering and TES Philippines began work on May 1 to return Manila metro Line 3 to its design capacity and improve safety. The scope includes repairs to track, catenary, signalling and rolling stock. The ¥35·5bn contract was awarded in January.
Sweden: Vossloh has agreed a framework deal for the supply of turnout components to Trafikverket over four years. Two options for extensions of two years could take the contract value to €75m.
Trafikverket has awarded Railcare a framework agreement for track works which is valid for two years with an option for a further two years.
UK: Network Rail has appointed Atkins, Atos IT Services, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, Capita Business Services, Cognizant Worldwide, Deloitte, DXC, Fujitsu, Resonate Group and a consortium of EY and Capgemini to its IT Solution delivery framework. This covers the provision of specialist IT support for operational and corporate activities, and is worth an estimated £605m over five years
Network Rail has awarded six Signalling & Telecoms framework contracts: London NW (VolkerRail, £150m - £250m); Anglia, South East and Wessex (Atkins, £150m - £250m); London NE (Linbrooke Services £100 - £200m), Scotland (Babcock Rail, £100m - £200m), Western (Colas Rail, £50m - £125m), Wales (Siemens Mobility, £25 - £100m). These cover stand-alone level crossing works, major telecoms and related civil works in 2019-24.
USA: Virgin Trains USA has appointed RailWorks, Stacy & Witbeck and Herzog to undertake infrastructure works on the extension from West Palm Beach to Orlando Airport.
Georgia Port Authority has selected RailComm to provide a yard management system to enable 83 turnouts and 38 powered derailer devices to be controlled from a central office or touchscreen kiosks at the Port of Savannah.
RailWorks is to supply track to the Minneapolis Southwest Light Rail project.
