Australia: The federal government has committed A$15m towards the construction of park-and-ride facilities at Mango Hill and Ferny Grove stations on the Brisbane suburban network.
Brazil: Teltronic is to supply Tetra telecoms to Porto Alegre metro operator Trensurb.
Colombia: Siemens has won a €42m contract to upgrade signalling on Line A of the Medellín metro including the Patio de Bello depot.
Czech Republic: ČD has appointed TSS Gradeand Doprastav to build a KC219m, 150 m long two-track multiple-unit maintenance hall in Brno.
Europe: RB Rail has appointed Ardanuy Ingenieria and Ineco to undertake the energy subsystem study for the Rail Baltica project.
Finland: Parma Rail has won a €2m contract to supply 27 400 sleepers for the Länsimetro extension project in Espoo in 2020.
Ireland: Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group has won a €40m contract to provide track maintenance services including the operation of IÉ’s 14 on-track machines for five years with an option for a further two.
Luxembourg: Kapsch CarrierCom has completed a three-year project to deploy GSM-R across the 271 km CFL network. The all-IP RDN.core is built on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project Release 4, with RDN.base stations, transmission networks, dispatcher systems and roaming agreements with France, Belgium and Germany. The contract includes maintenance until the end of 2021.
Montenegro: AŽD Praha has installed signalling equipment at Podgorica in a €6·2m 12-month project which included the supply of an ESA44 interlocking, LED signals, axle counters and three PZZ-J level crossing systems. It has also supplied point heaters to Ostrog and Nikšićs.
Qatar: Rumaillah Warehouse Equipment has installed 30 sets of Jewers Doors automatic folding doors at the Lusail light rail depot.
Romania: A consortium of Turkish contractors Alsim Alarko and Makiol is to modernise a 28·2 km section of the Braşov – Sighişoara line between Caţa and Apaţa. The 2·85bn lei contract being funded through the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility covers excavation of 5 km and 6·9 km tunnels and raising the line speed to 160 km/h.
Singapore: LTA has selected Siemens Mobility to electrify Circle Line Stage 6 and the North East Line extension under a €70m contract.
Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) has won a S$615·9m contract to build the station box, road tunnel, walkways, cycle paths and bus stops on the site of the future Teck Ghee station.
UK: High Speed 2 promoter HS2 Ltd has selected a Mace and Dragados JV to rebuild London Euston station, while the Old Oak Common transport hub is to be built by a joint venture of Balfour Beatty, Vinci Construction UK, Vinci Construction Grands Projets and Systra.
Network Rail has selected Babcock Rail, Arup and Arcadis for the five-year North rail system alliance contract, which covers ‘anything needed to make the rail system work including track, points, overhead lines and signalling’ in Scotland, while Colas Rail and Aecom have been selected for the South contract which covers the Anglia, Southeast, Wessex, Western and Wales routes.
Network Rail has awarded BAM Nuttall a £320m framework for renewals and enhancements in Scotland and the northeast in 2019-24. Two geotech frameworks have been awarded to Story Contracting (LNE, £47m) and QTS (Scotland, £100m).
