Australia: Rail Projects Victoria has appointed the Aurecon Jacobs Mott MacDonald JV as technical adviser for the Victorian Rail Infrastructure Programme, which includes the Melbourne airport rail link and electrification.
China: China Railway Electrification Bureau Group has been awarded the 6· 5bn yuan E&M contract for Section MHSD-2 of a heavy haul coal line being built between the western part of Nei Mongol and central China.
Finland: Kone is to supply lifts and escalators for the five stations on the second phase of the Länsimetro extension in Espoo , due to open in 2023.
France: Société du Grand Paris has awarded a consortium of Siemens Mobility and Thales a contract to supply signalling for Grand Paris Express driverless metro lines 15, 16 and 17. Siemens will supply CBTC and act as systems integrator, while Thales will be responsible for trackside equipment, communication and control centres.
Salini Impregilo has won a €718·8m contract to build the eastern section of Grand Paris Line 16. The Lot 2 contract covers the excavation of 11·1 km of tunnel, running from the Aulnay depot spur to the Bel-Air shaft at Chelles, along with the construction of four stations at Aulnay, Sevran-Beaudottes, Sevran-Livry and Clichy Montfermeil and related works.
Indonesia: ST Engineering is to supply platform screen doors for the Jabodebek LRT network in Jakarta.
Malaysia: KTMB has awarded a consortium of Ansaldo STS Malaysia and Pestech Technology a 264m ringgit contract for the resignalling of the 198 km Gemas – Johor Bahru route. YTL Construction has awarded Willowglen MSC a 139m ringgit contract to design and supply communication systems for the line.
Romania: CFR has appointed a joint venture of Italferr, Ispcf and Italrom Inginerie to prepare a feasibility study for upgrading the 234 km Craiova – Caransebeș route to increase capacity and meet EU technical standards including ETCS Level 2; this would permit passenger trains to run at 160 km/h and freight at 120 km/h.
Saudi Arabia: The FAST Consortium led by FCC and including Alstom, Samsung C&T, Strukton, Freyssinet, Typsa and Setec which is building Riyadh Metro Line 4 has been awarded a contract to build a two-station extension to serve King Khalid International Airport. This will include a 1·5 km viaduct and two elevated stations with direct access to terminals 1/2 and 3/4 via footbridges.
Thailand: On October 22 Bombardier Transportation confirmed that Bangkok MTS had awarded it a €245m 20-year contract to maintain the Pink and Yellow Innovia 300 monorail lines being built in Bangkok.
UK: Translink has awarded FP McCann Ltd a £500 000 contract to replace the bearings on the bascule bridge over the River Bann in Coleraine.
USA: California’s Orange County Transportation Authority has awarded Walsh Construction Co a $220·5m contract to build the OC Streetcar line.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has awarded Barletta Heavy Division a $217·7m design-build contract to modernise signalling systems to improve reliability and headways on the Red and Orange metro lines in Boston.
