CHINA: The Thales SEC Transport joint venture of Thales and Shanghai Electric Group has been awarded a contract to supply its TSTCBTC 2.0 signalling for Zhengzhou Metro Line 6 Phase 1. This will run 39·2 km from Jiayu Town to Xiaoying, with one elevated and 25 underground stations.
TST’s first contract in Zhengzhou follows contracts to supply TSTCBTC 2.0 for Shanghai’s lines 5 and 14.
‘The newly awarded contract demonstrates that TSTCBTC 2.0 is not only recognised by the Shanghai market, but also by a wider Chinese market, indicating the great success of Thales’ strategy to localise R&D through the joint venture’, said Jérôme Bendell, Vice-President of Thales North Asia & CEO of Thales in China.
Thales said TSTCBTC 2.0 provides a ‘revolutionary dual communication-based train control architecture’. This aims to achieve zero interruptions to operation through a high level of redundancy and availability, while also simplifying the lineside equipment to facilitate maintenance and reduce life-cycle costs.
