INNOTRANS: The first InnoTrans podcast will be launched on streaming portals at 10.00 Berlin time on February 9.
Due to be issued at monthly intervals, the 20 min long broadcasts will be devoted to discussing the latest developments and challenges in the transport sector.
‘Together with our international partners our aim is to provide our community with a global overview of the latest developments’, said InnoTrans director Kerstin Schulz. ‘What is the situation in Japan or the USA? How is the pandemic affecting tomorrow’s mobility challenges around the world? What will be the trends at InnoTrans 2022? These are all fascinating questions we want to discuss’.
The first podcast will feature Dr Ben Möbius, Managing Director of German railway industry association VDB. He will be talking about how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the rail industry, ambitious responses to the challenges of a green recovery and the opportunities that digitalisation offers.
‘The green recovery needs forward-looking mobility concepts and therefore it needs InnoTrans’, says Möbius. ‘The focus is on two things simultaneously: restarting growth and protecting the environment. In a fossil-fuel transport environment the two usually contradict other. Rail 4.0 means we can combine both. Creating new services instead of imposing bans is the path to an emissions-free future in the mobility sector.’
The second podcast will follow on March 9.
‘The InnoTrans podcast is an important step on the road to InnoTrans 2022’, said Schulz. ‘It represents a lively content platform, augmented by new findings, stories and insights from our international interview partners. What is more, every episode will have exclusive InnoTrans updates for our listeners.’
“The last InnoTrans was in 2018, which is almost three years ago’, added InnoTrans spokesman Tim Benedict Wegner. ‘With our InnoTrans Preview, we want to support the much-needed exchange between trade visitors and exhibitors. The podcast is another step towards this.’
- Railway Gazette is the only official international media partner for InnoTrans, the largest railway industry exhibition in the world. The next InnoTrans will take place in Berlin on September 20-23 2022.
