CZECH REPUBLIC: Škoda Transportation signed a KC1·9bn framework contract with tram operator DP Ostrava at the InnoTrans 2018 trade fair on September 19 for the supply of up to 40 two-section low-floor trams. Present at the signing were Škoda Transportation CEO Petr Brzezina, Vice-President of Sales Tomáš Ignačák, DPO CEO Daniel Morys and DPO board member Martin Chovanec.
DP Ostrava selected Škoda as preferred bidder earlier this month. The first ForCity Smart vehicle is expected to arrive in Ostrava within two years, with deliveries due to be completed the following year.
The two-section trams will be 26·5 m long with capacity for 200 passengers. They will be equipped with air-conditioning, CCTV, wi-fi and USB sockets.
