PLASSER & THEURER: Under the slogan 'the smart machine', Plasser & Theurer is to launch a newly developed universal two-sleeper tamping unit for both plain line and turnouts at InnoTrans 2016. The 8x4 is intended to combine the flexibility of the universal split-head single-sleeper tamping units with the faster output of two-sleeper operation.
The unit should save time by avoiding the risk of unnecessarily tamping a sleeper twice, while improving accessibility to all tamping zones. Speed control of the vibration drive should also help to save time when tackling encrusted ballast, helping to reduce maintenance costs.
On its stand in Hall 26, Plasser & Theurer will be promoting its wide range of tamping machines for a variety of different applications. These increasingly share a common digital control technology for the management of track geometry.
In the outdoor display, Plasser & Theurer will be showing its Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic E3 hybrid tamping machine, designed for environmentally-friendly turnout tamping. It will also be displaying the TIF tunnel inspection vehicle being supplied to DB AG under a framework agreement. This vehicle is equipped with three cranes with a reach of up to 14·5 m. The sound-insulated crew cabin has a walk-on roof and telescopic handrails, allowing it to be used as a working platform. As well as the machine controls, the crane cab can also be used as a driving cab.
