The long-proposed 29 km line would use an existing freight alignment to serve Glassboro, Pitman, Sewell, Mantua Township, Woodbury Heights, Woodbury, Westville, Gloucester City and the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden.

The project is being managed by the Delaware River Port Authority, with NJ Transit and the South Jersey Transportation Authority as partners.

The preliminary engineering and design contract covers development of the overall project configuration and a strategic construction plan. This is expected to take three years, and will include production of design specifications and contract documents, securing right-of-way acquisitions and easements, and geotechnical and utility surveys.

SJTP will also provide project management office functions throughout the design and construction phases, including community relations and public involvement.
