POLAND: Tracklaying has begun on a 5 km ‘fast tram’ extension of the Kraków tram network to Górka Narodowa in the north of the city.
The extension is intended to serve park and ride facilities and provide a 20 min journey time to the city centre. The double-track route includes a tunnel at ul Opolska, and 60% grassed track.
The project is being undertaken through a design and build contract awarded to a consortium of Intercor and Tor-Krak. The EU has provided 33m złoty of co-funding.
Completion is planned for the end of 2023.
