SWITZERLAND: Aargau Verkehr has taken delivery of the first of eight Stadler Tramlink Be6/8 light rail vehicles for the Limmattalbahn project to the west of Zürich.
The metre gauge LRVs were procured jointly with Baselland Transport. They are 44·3 m long, with step-free entry and a ‘modern and attractive’ interior with space for wheelchairs, pushchairs and heavy luggage, air-conditioning, a passenger information system and help points.
The seven-module LRV was delivered from Stadler’s Valencia plant by road in three sections which were reassembled after their arrival at Bremgarten West on March 23.
The remaining seven LRVs are scheduled to follow by November, and will enter service when the full 13·4 km Limmattalbahn Route 20 between Killwangen-Spreitbach and Zürich Altstetten opens on December 11.
