RUSSIA: Sinara City Transport Solutions has signed a public-private partnership concession agreement for the upgrading and expansion of the tram network in Rostov-na-Donu.
The work to be undertaken in 2023-28 includes the modernisation of 43·7 km of track and 15 substations, and the construction of 75·3 km of new track along with two depots and six substations.
The concessionaire will supply 76 fully low-floor three-section Sinara trams to a new design, while 30 existing single-section cars dating from 2016-17 will be refurbished.
The programme will require investment of 61bn roubles, including 41bn roubles for the infrastructure and 14·6bn roubles to upgrade the fleet. The concessionaire is required to provide 8bn roubles.
