RUSSIA: The Sinara City Transport Solutions joint venture of Yekaterinburg-based Sinara and Czech supplier Škoda Transportation has won its first contract, covering the supply of 90 single-section low-floor trams to Moscow and the provision of 30 years of maintenance.
The joint venture bid 11·07bn roubles, beating a rival offer of 11·12bn roubles submitted by PK TS.
The first five trams are scheduled to be delivered in June 2021, with the rest following by the end of the year.
The 17·1 m-long 100% low-floor trams will be a development of Škoda Transportation’s ForCity family, with production to be undertaken in Russia at the Vagonmash factory in St Petersburg and Kalugaputmash in Kaluga.
The joint venture plans to invest 1·5bn to 2·0bn roubles in the development of its production capabilities in 2020-21.
