RUSSIA: Concessionaire BaltNedvizhService has awarded PK TS a 4bn rouble contract to supply trams for the Kupchino – Shushary – Slavyanka fast light rail route which is under construction in St Petersburg.
The 21 km line is being built under a 30-year PPP agreement signed by the city and the BaltNedvizhService joint venture of ABZ-1 and Gazprombank in 2019. It will be separate from the city’s existing tram network.
BaltNedvizhService received five bids for the rolling contract, with PK TS selected to supply 22 three-section fully low-floor double-sided 71-932 Nevsky trams.
The first 10 are to be delivered for the opening of the first phase of the route in 2024, with the remaining 12 to follow in time for the opening of the second phase through to Slavyanka.
