RUSSIA: Sole bidder Sberbank Leasing has been awarded a 12·9bn rouble contract to supply 12 two-section and 42 three-section double and single-sided low-floor trams to St Petersburg.
A specific model has not been announced, but the trams will have a ’retro’ styling.
Deliveries are scheduled to start from the end of May 2023. The city will make lease payments until 2030, at which point it will have the option to buy the trams for 1 000 roubles each.
The order is the third and largest tram contract to be placed by St Petersburg this year.
