HUNGARY: Stadler’s Valencia site has delivered the first of 12 Citylink light rail vehicles ordered for the 22 km Szeged – Hódmezővásárhely tram-train line, which is scheduled to open in September.

National passenger operator MÁV-Start placed a HF17∙6bn order for an initial eight of the electro-diesel LRVs in January 2017, and in July 2020 excercised an option a further four which will be delivered in 2022 to enable the future service to be increased from every 20 min to every 15 min.

The LRVs will be 37∙2 m long and 2 650 mm wide, with 92 seats and a total capacity of 216 passengers.

They will have a maximum speed of 50 km/h on the Szeged tram network, which is electrified at 600 V DC, and will run at up to 100 km/h using diesel power on the railway between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely.
