INNOTRANS: One of the TMK 2300 LT low-floor trams which Croatian manufacturer Končar is supplying to Liepāja was displayed at InnoTrans before delivery to Latvia.
The metre-gauge TMK 2300 LT is a development of the TMK 2200 trams supplied to Zagreb, and uses Končar’s proprietary R&D and technology. Features include batteries enabling a trams to cover up to 500 m at low speed without external power, allowing it to reach the next stop in the event of a power outage.
So far 12 of the 14 trams ordered have been delivered to Liepāja, with the 13th travelling via InnoTrans in Berlin and the final one to arrive by the end of the year.
Exhibiting the vehicle at InnoTrans ‘is a further validation of our efforts to create high-tech globally recognised products and in doing so, strengthen Croatian industry, particularly in the field of high technology’, said Končar CEO Gordan Kolak.
He said long-term co-operation with Zagreb’s transport operator had ‘confirmed that we have the vision, the expertise and the tools necessary to lead green and sustainable mobility initiatives’, and ’we are confident that these opportunities, together with our qualities, will be recognised by potential new customers and partners at InnoTrans’.
