POLAND: Warszawa tram operator Tramwaje Warszawskie and contractor Budimex have signed a 685m złoty agreement for the construction of a tramway extension from ul Puławska to a terminus near ul Adama Branickiego in the Wilanów district in the south of the city.
The project includes the 7·5 km double-track tramway, three traction substations including one underground, and the planting of 500 trees.
Completion is planned by the end of January 2024.
Proposals for two short branches from the extension have been put on hold because of rising construction costs as a result of the pandemic.
