UKRAINE: Warszawa is to provide the city of Konotop with 23 Konstal 105Na trams as humanitarian aid.
The trams date from around 1990, and are currently stored after being been replaced by the Warsolino trams now being supplied to the Polish capital by Hyundai Rotem.
The first 13 of the donated trams are expected to arrive in Konotop by rail in late February. They will be converted from 1 435 to 1 520 mm gauge; the change of axles will be undertaken locally.
Konotop currently has 20 trams dating from the early to mid-1980s, of which 16 are in serviceable condition.
The Polish trams were requested by Mayor Artem Semeniknin, and on February 9 the city of Konotop renamed a street Warszawska to reflect the decision.
