Created in 1993 to operate long-distance passenger trains in Buenos Aires state following withdrawal of financial support by the government, Ferrobaires is a department of the Buenos Aires state government. Routes link Buenos Aires with Junin, Carlos Casares, Daireaux, Bahia Blanca, Patagones, Tandil, Mar del Plata, Miramar and Pinamar.
