SOUTH KOREA: Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions is to supply permanent magnet synchronous motors and other electrical equipment for 25 eight-car trains which Woojin Industrial Systems is to build for use on Busan Transportation Corp’s 40 km north-south metro Line 1 from 2025.
TISS launched its first-generation PMSM in 2006, and has since received orders from Japan and abroad. The latest order is the fifth order from South Korea and the third from Busan Transportation Corp; TISS previously supplied electrical equipment for five metro trainsets which entered service in 2018 and a subsequent order for a further six.
