SOUTH KOREA: Construction is underway on a long-planned extension of Seoul Metro Line 7 from Seoknam to Cheongna International City.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 23 at Cheongna Lake Park.
The 11 km extension will add seven stations, including the terminus at Cheongna International City, where interchange will be provided with the AREX Airport rail link.
The total project cost is 1·57tr won, with opening scheduled for December 2027.
The first section of Line 7 opened in 1996, and it now runs for 60 km from from Jangam in the northeast of Seoul to Seoknam in Incheon, with 53 stations. The most recent extension from Bupyeong-gu Office to Seoknam opened in May 2021.
