BANGLADESH: Operations and maintenance staff for the future Dhaka Metro are being trained at the Delhi Metro Rail Academy in the Indian capital, which is providing interactive classroom sessions, demonstrations, simulators, practical and on-job training.
The training is being provided under an agreement between DMRC and the NKDM consortium of Bangladeshi and Japanese companies which is working on the 19·9 km elevated Dhaka MRT Line 6 project.
The academy has previously provided short courses for public transport employees from Jakarta and Colombo. Delhi Metro Rail Corp said the contract to provide longer courses of 24 to 156 days for staff from Dhaka would provided a further boost to its image as a premier training location for metro staff, both in India and internationally.
