TURKEY: Bozankaya has been awarded a contract to supply seven four-car driverless trainsets for the metro under construction to link Gebze and Darica in Kocaeli province to the southeast of Istanbul.
Bozankaya beat a rival bid from CRRC, and said it would be the first company to supply metro trains ‘designed and produced domestically’ in Turkey.
The 15·6 km line with 12 stations will be almost entirely underground, except for a 0·9 km surface section. The depot, control and maintenance centre will be located at Pelitli, in north Gebze. Opening is planned by the end of 2023.
In 2016 Bozankaya worked with Siemens Mobility to deliver 22 four-car trainsets to Bangkok.
